hese files were collected by Ted Van Der Meid and Charlene Vanlier on court
cases or Ethics Committee investigations usually involving Congress Members.
Most of the files date from 1989-92 and contain legal filings, committee reports,
and occasional staff memoranda and research materials. Many of the cases appear
to have been considered by the Bipartisan Legal Advisory Group which decided
whether or not to intervene in a case in order to protect institutional prerogatives
of the House.
The Robert H. Michel Papers are currently being processed. It is possible
that additional material related to Gavin files will be located and added to
the series later.
